Spaghetti Bolognese 🍝

Ingredients

  • ½ kg minced beef

  • 1 small onion, finely chopped

  • 1 can peeled tomatoes

  • 3 small tomatoes, diced

  • 2 heaped tbsp tomato paste 

  • 3 heaped tsp chopped garlic

  • 1 carrot, grated 

  • 2 tsp chilli flakes

  • ½ tsp oregano

  • Basil leaves

  • Salt and pepper to taste

  • 1 tbsp olive oil and butter

Preparation

  1. Blend the tomatoes, tomato paste and peeled tomatoes together until combined but don’t blend them too much, keep a slightly chunky consistency. 

  2. In a large pan, heat up the olive oil and butter. 

  3. Add the onions and cook them till they are slightly brown. 

  4. Add the garlic, carrot and salt and mix well. 

  5. Add the minced meat and break it up as much as you can. 

  6. Add the tomato mixture and combine it well. 

  7. Cook the meat covered on very low heat for about an hour. 

  8. Once the water is mostly evaporated, add the pepper and chilli flakes, basil and oregano. 

  9. Cook your spaghetti to package instructions. 

  10. Serve the Bolognese on cooked spaghetti and garnish with Parmesan cheese and fresh basil.
